Worship Benefits the Worshipper
(Continuation from Last Sunday’s Sermon)
Our worship to God is not only for Him—it is also for our benefit.
No matter what our situation is, we are worshippers. Worship is not limited to good times or comfortable seasons. True worship continues even in challenges and difficulties.
Do Not Hold Back Your Praise
We should not hold back our song. In the Bible, Paul the Apostle and Silas were bound in chains in prison, yet they still praised God. They worshipped Him even in the dungeon. Their situation did not stop them from giving praise to the Lord.
In the same way, we should not hold back our praise because of what others might think of us. We are called to give our worship fully to the Lord, regardless of our circumstances.
You Become What You Worship
When you worship, you become your worship. When you worship the true God, your spirit changes because you become who you worship. A true worshipper begins to reflect the character of God.
Because Paul and Silas did not hold back their worship, God moved powerfully. Lives were changed, and people were delivered. This reminds us that when we worship sincerely, God’s presence works in ways that bring transformation to others.
God’s Blessings for True Worshippers (Continuation)
As we continue to honor God in worship, Scripture reveals additional blessings that flow into the lives of true worshippers.
To Give Them a Fresh Infilling of His Holy Spirit and Boldness to Live for Christ and Tell Others About Him
Acts 4:31The infilling of the Holy Spirit is not only for our own benefit, but also for others. God empowers His people to live boldly and share the message of Christ. We need the infilling of the Holy Spirit every day, because without Him, our efforts remain only human effort.
To Work Among Them in Special and Obvious Ways Through the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:7-13God works among His people through the Holy Spirit in special and visible ways. These works demonstrate His power and presence in the church. When believers worship sincerely, the Holy Spirit moves among them, bringing unity and transformation in the lives of His people.
To Guide Them Into All Truth Through the Holy Spirit
John 15:26 · 16:13The Holy Spirit guides believers into truth. He testifies to the Word of God and always points us to Jesus Christ. True worshippers become more sensitive to His voice and more confident in His direction.
To Purify, Develop, and Set Them Apart for His Purposes Through the Power and Instruction of His Word and the Holy Spirit
John 17:17-19God uses His Word and the Holy Spirit to purify and develop His people. True worship leads to spiritual growth and maturity. As we continue to worship God, He shapes our character and prepares us for His purposes.
To Comfort, Encourage, and Strengthen Them
Isaiah 40:1 · 1 Corinthians 14:26 · 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 · 1 Thessalonians 5:11God brings comfort, encouragement, and strength to His people when they gather together in worship. His presence renews hearts and strengthens faith. God desires that people leave the church not the same as when they came.
To Expose the Reality of Sin, Righteousness, and Judgment
John 16:8The Spirit of God reveals the truth about sin, righteousness, and judgment. He does not condemn people, but He lovingly convicts them and leads them to repentance. Conviction is a sign of God’s grace, drawing people back to Him.
To Spiritually Save People Who Respond in Faith When Their Sinfulness Is Revealed to Them During a Worship Service
1 Corinthians 14:22-25When God’s people worship, His presence is among them. In His presence, hearts are touched and lives are changed. One of the greatest blessings of true worship is salvation, as people respond in faith to the truth of God’s Word.
